Прохання та накази в непрямій мові також передаються за допомогою форми інфінітиву дієслова.
Здебільшого для передачі наказів та команд в непрямій мові використовуються дієслова to tell (сказати, веліти), to order (наказувати), to command (наказувати, командувати), а також to request (просити, рекомендувати) в значенні м'якого та ввічливого наказу.
  • Mum said, “Wash your hands!” – Мама сказала: “Вимий руки!”
  • Mum told us to wash our hands. – Мама сказала нам вимити руки.
  • The policeman said, “Stop!” – Поліцейський сказав: “Стояти!”
  • The policeman ordered to stop. – Поліцейський наказав зупинитися.
  • The cashier said to the client, “Enter your PIN-code.” – Касир сказав клієнту: “Уведіть свій пін-код”.
  • The cashier requested the client to enter his PIN-code. – Касир попрохав (сказав) клієнту увести свій пін-код.
Прохання в непрямій мові часто передаються дієсловами to ask (просити), to beg (просити, благати), рідше to implore (благати, просити, молити), to entreat (благати, молити), to beseech (благати молити, просити) та to urge (наполегливо просити, змушувати).
  • Janice said to her husband, “Will you help me with cooking?” – Дженіс сказала своєму чоловікові: “Ти допоможеш мені з готуванням?”
  • Janice asked her husband to help her with cooking. – Дженіс попросила свого чоловіка допомогти їй з готуванням.
  • The child said to his parents, “Buy me this puppy, please!” – Дитина сказала своїм батькам: “Купіть мені цього цуцика, будь ласка!”
  • The child begged his parents to buy him that puppy. – Дитина благала своїх батьків купити їй того цуцика.
  • The mother said to her son, “Please just be careful!” – Мати говорила своєму синові: “Прошу тебе, будь обережним!”
  • The mother urged her son to be careful. – Мати благала свого сина бути обережним
